The Guardian has been awarded "World's Best-Designed Newspaper" a whopping four times since 2005. So the team clearly there know a thing or two about design – as their choice in socks for this year's Christmas Gift Guide illuminates:

"Turn a Christmas cliche into a perennial pick-me-up with an annual London Sock Exchange subscription – undoubtedly the most cheering underthings in the land. Each quarter, The London Sock Exchange will drop three pairs of hand-finished, British-made socks through the letterbox – patterned, playful, and portraying everyone from Hamlet and Yorrick to Free Willy. You can also send your old socks back to be given to charity (nice pairs) or recycled (nasty pairs)."
